Atlas usage statistics
To understand which parts of the Atlas are useful, we count public page views, coarse device size, referral website domains, campaign labels and clicks to linked websites. We estimate engaged time from page visibility and recent interaction. We also store approximate country, region and city labels. When the hosting runtime does not supply a city, Atlas uses the connection IP address briefly to look it up in its own copy of the DB-IP City Lite database, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Only the location labels are saved; the address is not retained by this tracker. These are IP-based estimates, which may describe a network gateway or VPN rather than your physical location. We do not collect GPS coordinates, postal codes or street addresses, and we do not store IP addresses or send them to another geolocation service.
This tracker does not read your sign-in name, email or private account content, and does not store IP addresses or full referral URLs. It records short public content searches and result counts to find gaps; apparent email addresses, URLs, long numbers and credential-like text are redacted. Location searches and private notes are excluded. Automatic redaction cannot catch all personal information; please keep it out of public search boxes. It does not use advertising cookies or share data with Google Analytics. A random first-party browser ID is saved in this browser and sent with public page views to estimate unique and returning visitors. It is valid for 90 days and replaced on your next public-page visit after expiry. It is not linked to your sign-in account or used across other websites. A random visit ID preserves the arrival source across internal pages until 30 minutes of inactivity. Separate page and event IDs prevent duplicate activity updates. We count talk starts, measured listening, sit starts, completed sits, elapsed sitting time, saves, follows, page-load times and categories of technical failures without recording error messages or private form contents. If browser storage is unavailable, page views can still count but unique visitors cannot be estimated for those views.
My practice, shared collections, email preferences, this page and the owner dashboard are excluded. Reports, including pages viewed and recordings started by approximate city and pseudonymous returning-browser visit histories, are visible only to the site owner. These histories are not connected to sign-in accounts. Reporting covers 90 days; older event records are removed in bounded batches as new page views arrive.
We honor Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control for this tracker. Opting out removes the browser ID and stops further collection; it does not remove already collected records. You can also save an opt-out preference in this browser:
The hosting provider also operates its own traffic analytics and infrastructure logs. The preference above controls only the additional Atlas tracker.
Public pages also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure visits, page views and page performance, with breakdowns such as referring sites, countries, browsers and device types. This separate service is not controlled by the Atlas opt-out above. Its snippet is not installed on My practice, shared collections, email preferences, this privacy page or the owner dashboard.
Feedback
Feedback can be sent without signing in. We store your chosen answers, comment and the page path, without its query string. An email address is optional, kept separately, and used only to reply to your feedback. Submissions and review notes are visible only to the owner. The feedback form works even if usage statistics are disabled. A browser preference suppresses repeat invitations. Comments stay private unless you separately agree to share them.
The sitting room
Timer and bell settings stay in this browser. Optional shared sitting sends a random session token while you sit. The server stores only its hash and a 90-second expiry, without names, account identifiers, locations or practice history. Other visitors see only the number of active sessions. Expired entries are excluded immediately and removed on the next room update. Ending or pausing a sit removes its presence; unexpected disconnects expire automatically. The Sit page records starts, completions and elapsed sitting time in Atlas usage statistics, subject to the privacy preferences above. Paused time is excluded. These events are not connected to sign-in accounts or private practice notes. When you are signed in with practice history enabled, your sitting date, active duration and session type are also saved separately to your private account for My sits. Guided sits include the recording title. You can export or delete this history with your account data. Your plant and sunlight totals are private; they are a visual reflection of recorded time, not a measure of meditation quality.
Maps and place searches
ZIP codes, city searches and optional device coordinates are processed in your browser. They are not saved or sent to Atlas usage statistics. Device location requires your browser’s permission.
If you open a places or retreat map, your browser requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap. The tile provider receives ordinary connection information, including your IP address and the requested map area. The directory works without opening the map. OpenStreetMap privacy policy.
Your practice account
Optional sign-in supplies an account identifier and email address. Saved resources, follows, notes, questions and study plans belong to your account. Notes and questions are excluded from public collection snapshots. You can revoke shared links, export your records and delete your account data in Account data.
The owner’s analytics dashboard has no access to personal notes. Selected source links, videos and course providers have their own privacy practices. About the Atlas and its sources.
